Academic Senate Faculty Award for Teaching

Valerie Jenness, professor of criminology, law and society has been named the 2019-2020 recipient of the UCI Academic Senate Faculty Award for Teaching. This award is among the most prestigious awards a faculty member can receive from their colleagues and honors significant contributions to the university through sustained and distinguished teaching. Jenness will be recognized by her colleagues in early 2020 at the Senate Faculty Awards event.

Jenness has an outstanding teaching record that includes teaching undergraduate and graduate students every year while serving as Dean from 2009 - 2015. Her commitment to teaching extends beyond the university. She has developed innovative educational materials for public policy officials and practitioners; and has provided professional training to personnel working in jails, prisons, and immigration detention facilities.
