Golob appointed associate dean

Associate Professor leads Campuswide Honors Collegium

Brandon Golob, associate professor of teaching in criminology, law and society, has been appointed to serve as associate dean of UC Irvine's Campuswide Honors Collegium (CHC).

“Brandon arrived at UC Irvine in 2018 as an assistant professor of teaching for the School of Social Ecology. While at UC Irvine, Brandon has proven to be an outstanding teacher and mentor who has been recognized with numerous awards, including the UCI Inclusive Excellence Teaching Award, the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research Mentorship, the Tom Angell Fellowship, and Professor of the Year (three consecutive times!) for the School of Social Ecology. These qualities are key traits for the CHC associate dean who oversees instruction within the program and actively interacts with students across campus,” Michael Dennin, vice provost of teaching and learning, noted in his announcement to campus.

“Brandon's commitment to working with colleagues to improve the undergraduate experience is evident in his role as a DTEI Faculty Fellow, and his pedagogical leadership has been supported by grants from both UC Online and the UCI Office of Inclusive Excellence,” Dennis added. “His experiences as chair of the Diversity Committee for his department and as the Social Ecology representative for the First-Generation Faculty Initiative are a great benefit to continuing and maintaining the level of excellence the CHC has accomplished in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Finally, Brandon brings significant experience with professional organizations and the outside community through his work with the American Bar Association and other legal advocacy efforts. He will be able to leverage these experiences and connections to help support the important fundraising efforts that are critical for the CHC.”
