Academic Services
Department Assistant Directors are Social Ecology graduate students' first line of contact. If a student is better served by an alternate person or department, our Graduate Assistant Directors are trained to guide individuals to the appropriate UCI staff, faculty, or unit.
The role of an Assistant Director,
- Graduate Coordinators/Assistant Directors are graduate student services staff who can help you with questions regarding, but not limited to; enrollment, tuition and fees, academic petitions, leave requests, and university employment. In short, these individuals can help you with most administrative tasks, and are qualified to assist with a wide range of situations.
The role of a Faculty Program Director,
- Faculty Program Directors are university faculty who lead our individual graduate and doctoral programs. Students with questions regarding curriculum, research, career advice, or other programmatic inquiries should refer to their Faculty Program Advisor/Director.
Master's Resouces
In rare instances, graduate students may need to take a leave of absence (LOA) for personal and/or health reasons. If this occurs, please review the LOA guidelines and contact the appropriate department graduate student services staff member for further details.
Ask a Librarian & Library Services
Much of your graduate study will include a significant amount of time spent at the UCI libraries, or interfacing with their online databases. Thankfully, our School has been assigned specific librarians dedicated to assisting our various programs. For any questions, please contact Elizabeth Hernandez.
Graduate Student Handbook & Academic Policies
Social Ecology's Graduate Student Handbook is updated in the Fall Quarter of each academic year. Students should refer to this document for information regarding academic policies and degree requirements for their respective graduate program. Graduate student can also refer to the university catalogue. For questions not covered in the graduate handbook, please contact your designated graduate student services staff person. Previous editions can be requested through the Director of Graduate Student Services.
In addition to the SE Handbook, Graduate Division also issues campus-wide policies and procedures for graduate students.
Statement of Professional Conduct
This document is intended to outline the standards of professional conduct expected of graduate students in the School of Social Ecology. Adherence to these principles of conduct, together with good academic standing, maintains a student's "good standing" status with the School.
Academic Honesty
Academic dishonesty is unacceptable and will not be tolerated at UCI. Academic dishonesty applies equally to electronic media and print, and involves text, images, and ideas. For more information, regulations and guidlines, refer to UCI's Office of Academic Integrity & Student Conduct.
Academic Resources
The UC Irvine Graduate Division mission is to serve as a catalyst for a world-class graduate educational experience, to foster oversight and communication of institutional academic policies, and to provide resources and essential services to promote the diversity and success of the next generation of leaders.
The UC Irvine Registrar's Office aims to provide academic support services in an atmosphere of prompt, accurate, and friendly service to the campus community. It is responsible for maintaining student records, issuing reports of grades, distributing official publications, etc.
